Zip into Fall: Outdoor Fall Activities

It’s finally autumn! If you’re anything like the Adventureworks team, you’re excited for some brisk weather, gorgeous foliage, and festive harvest fun. In honor of the changing seasons, we’d like to share a list of recommended outdoor fall activities. Here’s what we’ll be doing this October and November.

1. Visit a Pumpkin Patch

No Halloween is complete without a spooky jack-o’-lantern! Load up the kids and pick out some decorative pumpkins at a patch or farmer’s market in your area. Most vendors will have a wide variety of fall favorites available for purchase, including extras like fresh apple cider. Once you’ve finished gathering the perfect pumpkins, head home and spend the evening carving them.

2. Enjoy Hayrides and Corn Mazes

Corn mazes and hayrides are seasonal mainstays for a reason! They’re affordable, fun, and only offered for a few weeks of the year. A quick online search should turn up a variety of local farms with mazes that are open for business. Be sure to take a few family photos in front of the displays before heading home.

3. Take a Hike

The South is especially beautiful this time of year, but fall is definitely fleeting. Don’t forget to get your fill of outdoor fall activities before it gets too cold out! Hiking is a wonderful way to stay active and take in the scenery during the changing seasons.

4. Build a Bonfire

No matter your age, a bonfire is always a terrific event for socializing. It’s also one of the easiest last-minute fall outdoor activities. Tell ghost stories, roast marshmallows, and cozy up for a few hours with friends and family.

5. Go Apple Picking

Have you ever visited your local orchard? Out of all of our favorite outdoor fall activities, this is probably the best two-for-one—you get to take home fond memories and a bushel of apples! Top off the weekend with an afternoon of homemade applesauce, caramel apples, apple pie, or another delicious fall treat.

6. Sign Up for Fall Zipline Events

See fall colors from a whole new point of view by ziplining this fall! This time of year, parks like Adventureworks offer a selection of festive seasonal events. Tired of the usual parties and trick-or-treating? Help us look for ghosts instead! Horror fans and families alike can fly through a haunted forest during our Halloween zip. Our guides will regale you with local ghost stories along the way. This tour is recommended for zippers aged eight and up.

Have you ever wanted to take advantage of the full moon? Once a month, we put on a tour that might be right up your alley. Arrive at dusk and zip under cover of darkness during our moonlight events. Believe us—there’s nothing like soaring through the night sky!

Looking for something kid-friendly during the daytime? You can’t go wrong with our signature canopy tour! In our opinion, this is the best way to see the changing leaves. If you’re ready to fly through the forest, give our team a call.
