How Do I Spend a Day with Kids in Nashville?

Whether they’re Music City natives or first-time visitors, plenty of parents are searching for kid-friendly activities this spring. If you’re one of them, we have a few exciting recommendations for you to consider. There are tons of great ways to get your little ones out of the house (or hotel room) as the weather warms up. Here’s how to spend a day with kids in Nashville.

Nashville Zoo

For Animal Lovers of All Ages

The Tennessean has given The Nashville Zoo two major accolades: “Best Day Trip” and “Best Regional Attraction.” It’s easy to see why! Since its 1991 opening, the zoo has grown from a private facility to an AZA-accredited non-profit organization.

More than one million people visit this local landmark each year. With more than 3,000 creatures representing over 300 species, the Nashville Zoo invites kids to “find their new favorite animal” while exploring the sprawling grounds. Children of all ages will love the carousel, up-close animal experiences, and 66,000-square-foot playground. If you’ve got a dinosaur enthusiast in the family, don’t miss the new DinoTrek exhibit!

Adventure Science Center

For Fans of Hands-On Learning

Stuck inside on a rainy day? The Adventure Science Center has plenty of indoor activities for kids of all ages. Situated just south of Nashville, this is one of the most convenient places for tourists and locals to visit. You’ve probably driven by the pyramid-capped building already!

The science center is home to a multi-story, fully interactive climbing structure, a state-of-the-art planetarium, and a brand-new infinity room. Exhibits include beekeeping, the physics of flight, AR visualizers, hands-on tinkering stations, and more. Best of all, admission is completely free for MNPS students.

Adventureworks

For Adventure-Seekers Ages Eight and Up

If you’re looking for a memorable way to spend the day, we recommend stopping by Adventureworks: Middle Tennessee’s favorite ziplining destination. We’ve got two convenient locations in Music City—one in North Nashville, by Fontanel, and another west of town. Both adventure parks offer thrilling adventures with bird’s-eye views. Zip through the verdant Tennessee forest as the weather warms up!

At Adventureworks, your safety is our priority. Our friendly guides will walk you through each zip, ensure your equipment is snug, answer all your questions, and oversee your trip. Walk-ups are welcome, but since spots go fast this time of year, we advise you to get your tickets beforehand. We can’t wait to soar through the trees with you and your little ones!
